Krafted launches ultra slim laptop power bank with replaceable battery
Krafted Edge launches at £149.99 with replaceable battery cells that let users swap worn components instead of discarding the entire power bank.

The British technology brand's latest release combines portable laptop charging with a modular battery system designed to extend the life of the device.
British consumer technology brand Krafted has launched Edge, an ultra slim laptop power bank designed to sit beneath a laptop while providing additional power throughout the working day.
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign, the £149.99 device is now available to purchase, offering an alternative to the bulky portable chargers traditionally associated with laptop charging.
Its most distinctive feature is a replaceable battery system, allowing users to renew the internal battery cells when they eventually deteriorate rather than replacing the entire device.
The launch reflects growing interest in consumer electronics that combine portability with longer product lifespans, particularly as remote working and frequent travel continue to influence how people use their devices.

A slimmer approach to portable charging
Measuring 270 by 190 mm, Edge has been designed to fit beneath laptops measuring between 13 and 16 inches.
Its aluminium body measures just 8.5 mm at its thinnest point and 12.88 mm at its thickest, making it considerably flatter than the conventional brick shaped power banks often carried alongside laptops.
Despite its slim profile, the device contains a 20,000 mAh battery and delivers up to 65W of power through USB-C, making it suitable for charging compatible laptops, tablets and smartphones.
A second USB-C port and two USB-A connections allow several devices to be connected, while an integrated braided charging cable reduces the need to carry additional accessories.
Krafted says the power bank can recharge fully in approximately two hours.
Depending on the device being charged, the company estimates that a fully charged Edge can provide up to four smartphone charges, three tablet charges or 35 headphone charges. Actual performance will vary according to battery capacity, power requirements and usage.
Designed to last beyond the battery
While its dimensions are likely to attract attention, Edge's replaceable battery system may prove its more significant innovation.
Most conventional power banks are effectively disposable once their internal batteries lose sufficient capacity. Edge instead uses a modular cassette containing four 5,000 mAh cells, allowing the battery component to be replaced while retaining the original housing and electronics.
The approach is intended to reduce electronic waste and extend the product's useful life.
Its construction also includes an aluminium alloy 7075 body and a top panel made using ocean bound plastic certified under the OBP programme.
These details reflect Krafted's emphasis on durability and material choices, although the environmental benefits of the design will ultimately depend on factors including the availability of replacement batteries and how long customers continue using the device.

A British brand focused on practical design
Krafted was founded by British entrepreneurs Charlie Rudge and Vinal Patel, who bring a combined 25 years of experience in product design and consumer electronics.
The company has developed a range of accessories intended to address everyday frustrations with technology, including its Connex multi charging hub and Couch wireless charger.
Edge follows a similar philosophy, concentrating on an established product category rather than introducing an entirely new type of device.
The difference lies in its combination of a slim form, laptop compatible charging and a battery that can be replaced.
At £149.99, it sits towards the premium end of the portable charging market, where consumers are likely to weigh its design and potential longevity against less expensive alternatives.
For those regularly working between home, offices, cafés and airports, the attraction is straightforward: additional laptop power without carrying another bulky accessory.
The replaceable battery offers a further reason to consider it, particularly for buyers looking to keep their electronics in use for longer.
Krafted Edge is available now, priced at £149.99.
