Iconic 70’s Mick Jagger T-shirt Recreated For His Palace Laundry Range

The t-shirt was recreated from a photo taken by celebrated music photographer Jim Marshall

The collection was made in collaboration with New York-based vintage t-shirt brand Saint Luis

The range also includes a varsity style baseball jacket, embroidered keychain and cap

In 1972, acclaimed photographer Jim Marshall was given a week of unlimited access to photograph Mick. The moment Jim captured Mick wearing the Palace Laundry T-Shirt became an instantly iconic shot, transcending both music and fashion.

Once a piece of musical history, this iconic t-shirt has now been lovingly recreated to form part of Mick Jagger’s exclusive new Palace Laundry range. The collection pays homage to this moment in Mick’s career and features an embossed custom box set, the iconic photo signed by the Jim Marshall estate, a limited edition replica Palace Laundry T-Shirt, satin varsity jacket, six-panel wool cap and a felt embroidered keychain.

The t-shirt was recreated in collaboration with Patrick Matamoros, the renowned vintage t-shirt dealer and owner of Saint Luis. Matamoros started out selling vintage t-shirts on a street corner in New York, and now counts Kanye West, Jerry Lorenzo and many other high profile celebrities among his customers.

Mick Jagger said of the new range: “I remember the photoshoot with Jim really well and I loved how the photos turned out. I look forward to getting one of the new shirts and being able to wear it again!”

Patrick Matamoros, vintage t-shirt dealer and designer said: “31 years ago… my hunt for vintage punk tees began in east LA… I was immediately challenged by someone at the Rosebowl Flea…“but do you know about the Palace Laundry piece?” 31 years later, no one is ever ready for the call from Mick’s team, but when I got it and they asked… “Do you know where the original Palace Laundry tee is? Can you help recreate it?” At that moment I was transported to being a 19 year old again. This time I had a better answer.”

A very limited run of 50 box sets is also available as part of the collection, which features a print of the original Jim Marshall photo signed by his estate, a t-shirt and a key chain.

The Palace Laundry range is available now exclusively on mickjagger.com .
