YOUR WHISTLE IS THE DOG’S DANGLIES, DARLING. By Gary McGhee

In my previous article I waxed lyrical about the Jeffrey West boot. So now attention turns to choosing a suit to go with them. In my not at all humble opinion the only suitable choice is a trip to an emporium in Soho called ADAM OF LONDON. Run by two cool dudes who also have an outlet in Notting Hill, they specialise in authentic 60’s suits that are tailored and designed for a slim-fit but also cater perfectly well for those of us who have put on a bit of belly over the years. They do alterations and it doesn’t matter where you live because they will send the suit parcel post with a suit carrier thrown in for good measure.

Their range is comprehensive covering wool, mohair and mixed fibre options in double-breasted, two button and three button suits. They do two-tone tonics and tweed-style for the country gentlemen. Think a 60’s Mod on a day out to the sticks on his Lambretta. Paired with a crisp shirt and a paisley tie. Totally pucker. They do suits that are perfect for the office as well.

How much, I hear you cry? Prices range from £400-600 pounds, bit more if you want a waistcoat. The quality of this schmutter, though makes this a very desirable and affordable purchase. If I had the money, I’d have a wardrobe full of them. What really marks them out for me is the authenticity of the detailing. Everything is right. The linings are gorgeous; the inside pockets are piped with attention to the correct colour for the suit. They are classy and ultra stylish, but without being showy or over-designed, (or over-priced.) So do yourself a favour, rock-on down to Berwick Street and have a butchers.
