The Best Skincare Routine for Your Skin Type

Skincare is not a one-size-fits-all endeavour. What works for one person may not necessarily work for another, due to a variety of factors such as skin type, age, climate, and even lifestyle. Understanding your skin type is the first step in establishing an effective skincare routine. This article aims to provide a comprehensive guide on how to tailor your skincare routine based on your skin type.

Identifying Your Skin Type

Before diving into skincare routines, it's crucial to identify your skin type. The most common skin types are:

Normal : Balanced, neither too oily nor too dry

Oily : Excessive sebum production, prone to acne

Dry : Lacks moisture, can be flaky or itchy

Combination : A mix of oily and dry areas, usually oily in the T-zone

Sensitive : Prone to redness, itching, and irritation

You can identify your skin type at home by doing the "bare-faced test." Cleanse your face and wait for an hour. Then, observe how your skin feels. If it's neither oily nor dry, you likely have normal skin. If it's shiny and oily, you have oily skin. If it feels tight or flaky, you have dry skin. If some areas are oily while others are dry, you have combination skin. If your skin feels irritated or red, you likely have sensitive skin.
