Cocomelt takes its Soho chocolate business nationwide

The London dessert café built on chocolate, social media success and a carefully developed cookie range is expanding beyond the capital with delivery across Britain

For many food businesses, going viral is the easy part. Turning online attention into a lasting business is rather more difficult.

Cocomelt appears determined to do precisely that.

The Soho chocolate café has launched nationwide delivery for the first time, allowing customers across the UK to order a selection of the products that have helped turn the London business into a seven figure operation.

The move takes Cocomelt beyond the physical limits of its Wardour Street café and represents another stage in the expansion of a company founded only four years ago.

Customers can now order its cookie range, London themed gift tins and chocolate covered Medjool date boxes online. Orders placed before 2pm between Sunday and Thursday are eligible for next day delivery.

It is a relatively straightforward development, but an important one for an independent hospitality business whose audience has increasingly extended far beyond the customers able to visit its Soho premises.

From Soho café to national business

Cocomelt was founded in 2022 by Sarah Jarrah with the idea of creating a café in which chocolate was not merely one part of the dessert menu, but its central proposition.

Jarrah's route into hospitality was unconventional.

A Chartered Accountant who began her career at a Big Four firm, she was still completing her final accountancy examinations when she spotted an empty Soho unit following the pandemic.

She persuaded her family to take the premises and opened Cocomelt with her father. For the first three months, Jarrah continued working full time in finance during the day while running the café in the evenings.

Four years later, the company says it has become a seven figure business and built a social media audience of more than 140,000 followers.

One of its Sushi Crepe videos has attracted more than 50 million views, demonstrating the extraordinary ability of social media to transform the fortunes of relatively small hospitality businesses.

Yet Cocomelt's expansion also illustrates the challenge that follows such success. A viral audience can be international while a café remains stubbornly attached to one postcode.

Nationwide delivery begins to close that gap.

The cookie becomes a business in its own right

Central to the delivery operation is Cocomelt's cookie range.

The company says it spent 15 months developing the product before launching it in November 2025, with the intention of creating what it considered a recognisably London cookie.

The result was deliberately positioned between the increasingly ubiquitous oversized American style cookie and a thinner traditional biscuit, with crisp edges surrounding a softer centre.

According to Cocomelt, cookies now account for 40 per cent of sales at its Soho store.

That makes their expansion into nationwide delivery considerably more significant than simply adding an online gifting service. It gives one of the company's strongest product categories access to a national customer base without requiring Cocomelt immediately to undertake the considerably more expensive exercise of opening cafés around Britain.

Among the products available is its £35 Iconic Gift Tin, containing six cookies in packaging inspired by London landmarks and intended to be kept and reused.

Chocolate covered Medjool dates filled with premium ingredients are also included in the initial national range.

The timing is deliberate. With the autumn and Christmas gifting period approaching, Cocomelt is positioning the service as much around presents as personal indulgence.

Building beyond a viral moment

The more interesting part of Cocomelt's story is what happens next.

Britain's hospitality industry has no shortage of businesses that have enjoyed enormous bursts of attention on Instagram and TikTok. Social media can create queues remarkably quickly, particularly in central London, but attention alone does not necessarily create a durable company.

Cocomelt now has an opportunity to convert some of that digital reach into a broader retail operation.

Jarrah said the company wanted customers outside London to receive the same experience as those visiting Soho.

Every detail, from our premium desserts to the thoughtful presentation of our packaging, has been meticulously crafted to ensure the same quality and joy found in store can be enjoyed at home.”

She described nationwide delivery as “a really exciting next step for the brand”.

There is also a personal element to the business. Jarrah has said that Cocomelt was partly inspired by childhood memories of sharing chocolate drizzled crepes with her grandfather. That tradition remains represented on the menu today.

What began as a single café built around that relatively simple proposition is now testing how far the Cocomelt name can travel without the customer having to travel to it.

The company plans to expand the range available for delivery during 2026, while further UK expansion and eventual international growth are also being considered.

For now, the strategy is more restrained. Rather than immediately attempting to reproduce the Soho café across multiple cities, Cocomelt is using a product that already represents a substantial share of its existing sales to reach customers nationally.

For a young hospitality company trying to turn internet popularity into a lasting consumer brand, that may prove the more important milestone.
