A Guide to Skiing in Andorra 2024

When you hear skiing holiday, it’s only natural that you think of hotspots like the French Alps and Switzerland. This is only natural since these are home to some of the world’s most well-known ski resorts . But for those seeking a winter adventure that’s off the usual tourist track, Andorra is a great option.

This small landlocked country nestled in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain packs a punch above its weight when it comes to skiing. It caters to all skill levels with its high-quality slopes and impressive ski resorts across the regions of Grandvalira and Vallnord.

If you’re interested in Andorra ski holidays to finish your 2024 with a bang, here’s our guide to the local ski scene.

Andorra is home to several world-class resorts, with some of the most popular being Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp. These resorts are all part of the Grandvalira ski area, while Pal, Arinsal and Arcalis are linked together as Vallnord.

These resorts are close to one another and can be reached in a single trip, so visitors can explore multiple areas in quick succession. With a total of 300km of groomed slopes and plenty of off-piste terrain, Andorra has something to offer everyone.

Andorra does not have its own airport, but it is well-connected to nearby cities in both France and Spain. The closest international airports are Toulouse in France and Barcelona in Spain, both of which are within a 2 to 3-hour drive.

Shuttle buses depart regularly from both airports to Andorra, making it easy to plan your trip. This also means that if you're short on time, a day trip to Andorra is entirely possible.

From cosy, self-catering apartments to luxurious five-star hotels, Andorra has something for every type of traveller.

Many resorts also offer convenient ski-in, ski-out options, allowing you to maximize your time skiing and allowing you to step directly onto the slopes from your doorway. You don’t need to waste time travelling to and from every day.

Andorra's après ski scene is lively yet laid-back. While it may not be as party-centric as some Alpine resorts, there is plenty of opportunity for socialising after a day on the slopes.

Tapas bars and Argentinian steak houses offer a delicious way to unwind, while those seeking nightlife should head to Pas de la Casa, the most vibrant spot for après ski activities.
